Ellen Babin is an award winning landscape and commissioned pet portrait artist member of the Cape Cod Art Association in Barnstable MA. Specializing in acrylics, her paintings convey a deep appreciation for Cape Cod's natural settings. The dunes of Chapin Beach, the marshes at Crowe’s Pasture, and the snow-swept streets around Yarmouth and Dennis are among her previous subjects. Ellen was raised in Darien Connecticut. She began her artistic career painting landscapes on handcrafted lamp bases for her father's appliance shop. Her enthusiasm would lead to a position at a local antique store restoring antique pottery and painted furniture. When she reached high school, Ellen joined the Silvermine Art Guild, a gathering place for artists and students in New Canaan CT. While pursuing a career as a Physician Assistant in college, she maintained her interest in painting and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in medicine and a minor in art from Alderson-Broaddus College in 1983. A Cape Codder at heart, Ellen moved to Yarmouth with her husband and two children in 1989. Currently a practicing Physician Assistant at Cape Cod Ear, Nose, and Throat, she prefers her time away from the office at home in her studio. Ellen's work is exhibited and for sale at The Bartholomew Gallery in Chatham, MA.
